Lime Crime: Mint to Be and Poisonberry!

Ever since I decided I was going to buy my first Lime Crime lipstick, Poisonberry was at the top of my list. I'm a huge fan of dark purple lipstick, so it had to be mine. Unfortunately it was out of stock everywhere when I made my first order, so I had to skip it. Until late one night, I was searching the web I happened to come across it on Princess Polly. I found a promo code to get $10 off, so I decided to buy Mint to Be as well!
The package came super fast! I ordered on Wednesday night and got the package Friday morning, crazy! The lipsticks were wrapped well, and they included this cute little card with them. Yes, the package did make me see rainbows!
When I first saw the Lime Crime lipstick collection, I wasn't a fan of the greens, blue and yellow. I didn't think they were anything I would ever wear. But, after looking at them more and more, and thinking about (yep, I'm going to talk about it again) going on a cruise, I though Mint to Be would be a fantastic colour to own. And I actually love it! It's a pastel green, which I would usually think would make the perfect nail colour, but I love it just the same on my lips. It's a hard one to actually wear. It doesn't apply as well as more normal colours from the Lime Crime range, and I think it has something to do with the fact it's totally different from normal skin colour. It takes quite a few coats to get opaque. Usually when you wear a lipstick you don't notice inside the lip where the lipstick colour ends and the skin colour begins, but I pay a lot more attention to it wearing this. I also find I have the opposite problem that I normally do with applying lipstick, and I find it tricky to cover the whole lip, usually (like with Poisonberry) I find it hard to stay within the lip line, but this one I find it hard to reach it. If that makes any sense, haha. Despite all the problems, this is a fantastic lip colour, and I can't wait till summer when it's a more appropriate colour to wear in public (more often, I have already worn it to the shops, without many stares!)

Poisonberry is a really nice dark purple. It has a slight bit of shimmer to it, which I think is fantastic! As I mentioned above, you have to take real care with applying this lipstick, like any other darker lipstick. Poisonberry also stains your lips a lovely raspberry colour, which I love! It's a one coat lipstick, but you can apply more to get a darker, deeper colour. It's a lot more purple toned than most of my dark lipsticks, as you can see in the comparison swatches below.

What do you think of Lime Crime's more out there lipstick colours? What's your favourite dark purple lipstick?

  1. Poisonberry looks a lot like MAC's Pure Heroine which has just launched in the UK. I've posted a review this week if you're interested in having a look. Good on you for going green as well! Although it's not a shade that I'd personally be able to pull off I'm all for those who can rocking it!

    1. Pure Heroine is a lippy I had a bit of a look into when I thought I'd never be able to get my hands on Poisonberry. I'm still considering it because it's super pretty. Green isn't for everybody, but I'm all for rocking things that are out of the norm :)
