I mentioned in my last wish list that I just really needed to spend some money! It's been a long time since I bought anything I didn't need that was beauty related, so I was getting a bit itchy to spend mney. So I decided to set myself a budget of $10, and head down to Priceline during my lunch break. I knew it wasn't going to get me much and I was likely going to be restricted to Essence, but I just needed some new makeup to play with!I ended up getting 3 new things to play with! Rimmel I love Lasting Finish in Black Cherries, Essence Party All Night single eyeshadow and Stay All Day Long Lasting Eyeshadow in For Fairies. I ended up spending a little over my budget, with all 3 coming to $10.75. I was expecting it to be a little bit more, but turns out the Stay All Day eyeshadow was only $2.75! Just incase you've been living under a rock they and many other great Essence products are being discontinued, so if you want to grab one you better hurry as my Priceline was running low!
Black Cherries is a lovely dark purple polish that I bought especially for Autumn. I haven't worn a dark nail polish in years, so this took a little bit of getting used to! It's a lot nicer in the bottle I think, as the shimmer only shows on your nails in the sunlight, but I'm still super pleased with it, especially when it was less than $5!
I am a little bit dissapointed with the For Fairies. As you can see from the swatch above, there are lots of lumps. It's not pigmented at all, and when you try and build up a colour it goes a bit lumpy. Hopefully when I get past the top it'll be better, because the colour is lovely. The formula is a little like Copy Right - which doesn't go on as nicely as Glammy Goes To.
Up All Night on the other hand, is really creamy and pigmented. It's a lovely shimmer that is a lot darker swatched than in the pan, which is exactly what I wanted from it.
Now, I probably could have done better with $10 if I had shopped around. I could have tried sales at Kmart and Target, or bought 2 Ulta3 polishes instead of the 1 Rimmel (which I actually considered, but ended up liking Black Cherries too much to warrant searching through the Ulta3 bins at Terry White for something that may not have been as nice, and my local Terry White always has the same boring shades anyway). I managed to spend all of around 20 minutes in Priceline, which included swatching some other products, and browsing stippling brushes, so I think I did alright!
What would you purchase if you only had $10?
I love Black Cherries it is by far one of my favourite Nail Polishes & one of the first I ever bought when I started getting in to nail polishes :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's going to be one of my favourites for the season. I also see it making the cut for my England trip!
DeleteOh wow I expected it to be a bit more expensive! Black Cherries is such a gorgeous colour, perfect for Autumn/Winter!

That's annoying, they're a great brand. Hopefully they make the move to NZ soon!
DeleteRimmel's Black Cherries looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why essence was a lot cheaper than normal!! ahh have to run down and purchase some things before they are gone forever :(
ReplyDeleteHurry! So many of their great products are getting discontinued, I think the gel liners too. Hopefully it's to make way for even more awesome stuff though.
DeleteI would probably go and get 5 ulta3 nail polishes haha, I love them and they're so cheap!
ReplyDeleteThat's actually something I've done before when I wanted to spend money but didn't have much, haha.
